Battling Between “Self-Promotion” and Not!

This is something that I have struggled with a lot as a musician, creative, etc. Being able to “self-promote” has been something that has never come naturally to me. I have always had this nagging feeling that it looks desperate if I do it or that it won’t resonate with people.

The other side of me is also an advocate for “self-promotion” because not only is it something that does help your career, I also think that there’s this confidence one can gain in supporting your own self. Because “external validation” is fine - but to be honest when it comes down to it, being able to stand on god and just support your own self is elite behavior.

So that is something that I really have had to work on and I still straddle between both of these thought processes. I think this fear goes beyond just the arts as well - I think its in anything.
