Jasmine Williams-Jacobs on Black Remote She
In an age dominated by generic job boards, endless scrolling, and sifting through positions that may or may exist, Jasmine Williams-Jacobs offers a fresh solution that cares for job seekers. Jasmine is a cultural worker, communicator, and community builder whose work centers around shifting power away from systems of harm and toward collective care. They are the founder of Black Remote She (BRS), a platform designed for Black queer, trans, non-binary people and allies, who want to work, connect, and thrive remotely.
The platform is designed as an ode to Black feminism, building upon the legacy of Ella Baker’s catalytic leadership praxis to reclaim our economies with community-driven solutions that can sustainably meet collective needs within our communities. The platform hosts a resource hub that contains practical tools including info on gender-affirming support groups, funding guides, and resource opportunities. The job board listings are vetted thoroughly so job seekers can spend less time confirming validity and more time thinking if the position is the right fit for them. Along with the job board you’ll find an email course for job seekers and a BRS Facebook Group to facilitate intentional connection.
With a decade of experience as a writer and spoken word artist, Jasmine brings care and clarity to every room they’re in. In 2024, they were named one of The Bloom 30 Under 30 for Social Impact, and they continue to serve on advisory boards focused on gender-based violence and community safety.
