CTA: Musicians for Democracy

In early May 2025, over 600 classical musicians—including renowned artists like Midori, Jonathan Biss, Joyce DiDonato, Alisa Weilerstein, and Gabriela Díaz—signed a public letter titled Musicians for Democracy. Here is part of the statement which lands so well as the deplorable situation that was initiated by Tr**p in LA …. The letter stated, “We have watched as people have been seized and targeted for deportation for participating in peaceful protest…” It strongly criticized the ongoing wave of political detentions and assaults on free speech, explicitly referencing recent ICE activity and the fear it sowed.
